Bright and Early Start/First Day Here

So we had to get up sooOoo incredibly early in the morning especially for traveling all day but I think it was to get used to the time and not to get really bad jet lag, which I don’t even think I ever got, thank goodness! The breakfasts they serve here are mmMmazing!! There’s crossaints and yogurt and fruit and the most amazing kinds of sweet bread that you would never even think of! I love it! Especially since I love breakfast! we then walked down to our classroom and just on the 10 minutes there I became obsessed with Heidelberg germany! I don’t know when it happened but somewhere between moore house and my classroom on the haupstrausa, I fell in love with a town!!

So this is where I live! Jealous anyone?? I know I would be!
Emeshea Petty Says: "You know I am jealous... but I already had my turn..."
It's like I live in this amazing tree house!!! I really have no idea what it really looks like on the outside cuz it's just covered in trees! I love it!
Oh, and this is what I wake up to in the morning! Nice right?!

Our classroom is pretty far from the house, about a 15 minute walk, but its so pretty and green like the cute little cobblestone roads where the cracks are bright green with growth! Ahhhh, I absolutely love it! I just can’t say it enough! I wish that you guys could see what I’m seeing just walking around and not just the pictures! Theres so many things that you just have to see in person so I just think that you should all just come visit me mMmk??

So once we finally get to the classroom (which is on the haupstrassa, kind of like the third street promenade, but totally way better!) and we have our own student break room and stuff in there, it’s pretty cool! They basically just went over rules and stuff with us blah blah blah, boring stuff, and then we got in groups and went on a scavenger hunt! Basically we got bored of it after like the first section of it because we were too overwhelmed with how beautiful the city was and all we wanted to do was take pictures of the old buildings that are everywhere you look and explore the streets that wind around on a cobblestone path for what seems like miles!! The scavenger hunt was a good idea though cuz it was like stuff that we should probably know where it was, you know like drugstores and grocery stores, but I’m sure I’ll find my way around better on my own! You know how I don’t like to read?! Haha!!
The Haupstrassa! Can you believe this is my town??
Me n my new roomie Alex Harding!! I'm in love with the buildings! And her!!

Dex thinks he's a model... keyword, thinks!
It was an action shoot we had to see which shot was the winner...
Definitely the winner!! He's trying so hard not to laugh!
It was way prettier than this in here but it was too dark =(

So we hiked up like a million spiral stairs to see the entire town! Totally worth it!

Yup, this is where I live! I know... it's amazing!

This is basically my next door neighbor! Yeah, it's a castle!
Victoria Dewoody Says: "Oh my goodness Shannon! You do live in a fairytale!! I am so jealous! I love it it is beautifl I hope you have the most amazing time ever!
Amanda Lewis Says: "Oh, the castle :) I have good memories there! I hope you're having the time of your life!

I love Heidelberg!

See the house totally covered by trees and all you can see is the roof? That's where I live!

This is our library! Pretty sweet!
This sign made me laugh! It was in some shop window!

Expensive heise schokolade shop!! Time killer basically! But it's right underneath our classroom!
Christina Says: "except it's not a "time killer" when the waitress puts the cups down with the receipt so you have to slam your drinks down, pay, and GET OUT!"
Me: "true dat boo!"

Oh and I got my first euro, took a picture with it of course and then I bought towels and an alarm clock at the kauf hof, cuz I didn’t have any, and I had to speak to my first german!! I was so nervous cuz here’s the deal, either I feel stupid speaking in german cuz I sound illiterate when I try, or I feel rude for speaking to them in English. But anyways here’s how it went down… I had to ask for change to take a passport photo in this photo booth, and lex (that’s my roommate that I knew from English last year) told me what to say, she’s been taking german for a while! So I said, “enshuldigun sie bitte, zwei fumf?!” that means, excuse me please, 2 5’s? see what I mean?? Illiterate, but he understood and it was the best I could do and he totally gave it to me and then some of my guy friends tried to get change too and he wouldn’t give them any! I guess you have to be a girl sometimes to get what you want cuz my friend knows WAY more german than me!

My first Euro EVER!!!!
Tiffany Saulnier Says: "I MISS MY LITTLE!"
Me: " I MISS MY BIG!!!!"

After a day of exploring we went to our first group dinner at this restruant called shanghai! I know I know our first two days here and we eat pizza then japaneese food??? Weird right? Well it was good except for we decided that the stirfry smelt like horses when they get all sweaty, we were “wafting” the smell towards us! Lots of good laughs and pictures! Royce sat by me so that is definitely why there was lots of laughs! He made me take a picture of the water jug cuz they measured their water! Oh and their was a hair in our tea and we kept being paranoid that people were switching glasses with the tea that was poured out of the hair tea! It was a silly night!

Awwww, roomies at our first night to dinner! Don't drink the tea!!!!

Candid!! I know how you like these so much Royce! Haha! Ummm... can you sit by me every night please?!

Royce: "take a picture of this! They measure their water!"

Royce was convinced it smelt like horse manure...
